About us
The New Progressive is a U.K. based online journal dedicated to rational, liberal and progressive politics. Internationalist in outlook, British in perspective, the authors dedicate this website to the propagation of the universal progressive values of freedom and democracy, and to the defence of those values against their enemies at home and abroad.
We, the authors of this website, are a group of people who have come together to promote a certain political approach which we believe is essential to the survival and well-being of our society, and ultimately to the world in general. The ideas which we seek to advance are poorly understood and often wilfully misrepresented, especially in the United Kingdom where we are based. We are here to gather new supporters to the cause, both by locating those who already share our philosophy, and by convincing others of the merits of our case.
We describe our politics as rational, liberal and progressive. We reject both socialism and traditional conservatism, and regard ourselves as the defenders of the authentic liberal values of the Enlightenment against their enemies to the left and right. Aside from our weblog, why not take a look at our reading list? This contains a variety of recommended books together with a selection of online articles, all by authors unconnected with the New Progressive, but which nevertheless reflect or illuminate our viewpoint to a greater or lesser degree.
