Are you now or have you ever been…
Fame at last.
Somebody at Harry’s Place has gone mad
For some reason somebody over at Harry’s Place thought it would be a good idea to accept a guest post comparing Israel with South Africa. from someone who appears to be some kind of raving anti-semite. The “history” outlined in the post was sufficiently wacky that I initially thought it must be some [...]
MCB renews boycott of Holocaust Memorial Day
Well, that didn’t last long, did it? After finally being shamed into attending Holocaust Memorial Day for one year only (and threatened with withdrawal of government patronage if they didn’t), the boycott is back on.
David T at Harry’s Place comments:
…I’m really not surprised that the MCB felt happy to re-instate their boycott so quickly. [...]
That DEC appeal again
God bless Norm Geras. I’ve been reading stuff all day like this from Andrew Roberts saying that the BBC and now Sky is right not to broadcast the DEC Gaza appeal. Roberts takes the view that many of the charities themselves are anti-Israel and in this he is undoubtedly correct. That’s not [...]
Historic victory for the People’s Front of Judea
In respect of this, Reg and the siblings have won.
The BBC and the Gaza appeal – must be a Zionist plot I suppose…
Okay. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but it’s not as though the BBC has been shy about turning its news operation into a 24/7 Hamas propaganda machine lately. So why now have they come over all coy about objectivity when it comes to a decision whether or not to broadcast what [...]
The Dutch surrender continues
I can’t say I’ve ever warmed to Geert Wilders. He is, I think, a species of liberal rather than some kind of unreconstructed nationalist, but he’s not exactly cuddly. He doesn’t deserve this, though.
Yet again the formerly most liberal and tolerant country in Europe is showing its new colours. Anyone who dares suggest that the [...]
Hamas: a partner in the peace process?
Norm Geras has a thing or two to say on the matter:
If Hamas has outgrown the sentiments of its founding charter [which looks forward to the elimination of Israel], why doesn’t it renounce and replace, or amend, that charter? If its current thinking is within the parameters of a two-state solution, it could embody the [...]
Sunny sits on the fence
Pickled Politics is a good but frustrating site, yet not more frustrating that its guiding light Sunny Hundal. After making a reasonable (though flawed) attempt at taking a fairly objective line on the Gaza conflict, he has evidently been finding this a bit of a strain of late – understandably in view of the large [...]
The Bush legacy
The many enemies of George W. Bush are counting down the hours until the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, next Tuesday. President Bush leaves the White House as one of the most unpopular presidents since the Second World War.
Still, short term popularity is a poor indicator of historical perspective. [...]
